ESAT/ENGAA

By Topic

Link to ESAT - Content Specification

The physics component of the ESAT/ENGAA exam forms part of a fast-paced 40-minute section with 27 multiple-choice questions, combining physics and maths. The physics questions test your understanding of core topics such as mechanics, electricity, waves, and thermal physics, often in unfamiliar or applied contexts. The style is designed to reward clear thinking and quick application of concepts rather than rote memorization.

Tips:

1. Master core principles — Focus on Newton’s laws, energy conservation, circuits, and motion graphs. These show up regularly and are easy to score if you’re confident.

2. Estimate when needed — Some questions can be solved faster by estimating or using proportional reasoning instead of exact calculations. Speed and efficiency matter.
